Chapter 3 Thinking routines are used as a tool. They help learners: make connections to prior knowledge, wonder and question, and formulate plans for exploration. When we develop a routine or model patterns of thinking, learners will become more independent in their own thinking. I really liked the organizational chart on page 51, because it helps to see the types of thinking routines compared to types of thinking that might be required within a lesson. Chapter 4 I really liked looking at the picture and completing the See-Think-Wonder. So interesting that I did not notice the details that were brought out in the book. I never thought that this type of activity would be used with such complex material (ex. high school). That has changed my thinking. I tried the thinking routine of Compass Points with team leaders. I felt it went well and we were able to discuss the ideas as a group. The teachers also seemed to enjoy the thinking routine.
